ABOUT THIS PROJECT:
In November 2015, Smithville commenced construction of the Gigacity, the first 1 GB fiber optic network in the state of Indiana, in the city of Jasper. The project aims to deploy fiber to 9000 homes in over 30 neighborhoods (known as “Fiberhoods”) throughout the area. Construction is expected to continue throughout 2018.
In 2010 Yates Engineering Services (“YES”) became the fiber consulting engineers for Smithville Communications, Inc. “YES” has now provided contract administration, engineering and design, project management, construction inspection, and CADTEL/GIS mapping services on more than 20 separate FTTH RUS funded projects for this incredible telco.
